Hi Everyone!

I am NOT a radio engineer or a vendor, etc I have become involved in a WiMAX project consulting for a utility company (Law/MBA). We have obtained 3.65 licenses and funding from the government for a 'feasability' study for internet and wireless meter reading.

I am in a very rugged area near the mountains and want to install towers and radio equipment for 3.65. The utility intends to use 3.65 to provide internet for its customers (they only have dial-up now) and also install wireless meter reading (AMR) networks for gas and maybe electricity meters (usually electricity is first for AMR in populted areas- but we use a different model)..

Our engineer only wants to use Airspan equipment. I'm fine with this, but have to 'review' his advice - especially as he wanted to become a 'dealer' and market/resell equipment to 'Us' (the utility), manage all the servers and everything AND intended on being an Airspan 'dealer' for other utilities too. (His decision, that Airspan was the only 'game in town', was made just over a year ago, pre 'e' radio.

What other 3.65 vendors should I look at today? Why are they and/or their latest 3.65 radios, etc. a better alternative? What kind of experiences have customers had with Airspan's equipment and service? Especially when there is a problem? (I see Airspan is suing a past client, Buzz Broadband, and have some concerns, as after a little investigation of the lawsuit I can see Buzz has some defence (not just as papers said, when you read filed court documents and other). Buzz is now in Bankruptcy. . .

Anyway, it would be great to get some insight and advice- it's a very interesting and .unusual WiMAX project and your comments could make a real difference!

Hello Friends,

I was wondering if there are companies interested in investing in a Wi-Max buildout for the Gulf of Mexico. I do have a lot of experience there and quite a few ideas and prospective customers that would be extremely interested.

Hello, Everyone

It's lucky for me to find this Sales & Marketing Forum because I wanted to get and learn the informaiton and advice on WiMAX marketing.
I have been an WiMAX engineer by last September and now working in Overseas Marketing Team in a Telecom Equipment Manufacturer(MTI) who makes WCDMA/WiMAX Repeater and BS/ASN-GW as well as CPE.
From now on, I hope I could share lots of things on WiMAX world with you.
Thanks. Tommy.
