For those interested in WiMAX simulation, in this page http://www.lrc.ic.unicamp.br/wimax_ns2/ you can download an WiMAX module for the ns-2 simulator. The focus of this implementation is the MAC layer and its mechanisms for bandwidth allocation and QoS support.

Juliana.

Hi Juliana

yep, it's very useful for QoS & BW allocation
thnx a lot for this link.

July, did u used/tried the ns-3??? or not yet?

regards
Hi Arta,

ns provides two types of traces: one for the nam and the other is in text format and you can use it to extract results such as throughput, delay, loss, etc. The example provided with the WiMAX module produces only the text trace, which is the out.tr. To generate the nam trace I think you have to use a command like "namtrace" or something like that. You can find more information in the ns manual. I've never used nam, and I don't know how it will work with this module...
Regards,
Juliana.
hi Arta

u need to refer to "ns_doc.pdf" file, look for info on "trace-all" and "namtrace-all" commands.

and by using nam u will use the command "$ns namtrace-all $nf" for this. and create the *.nam file, which is recognized by nam.
or u can use the gawk to visualization ;)

cheers

Hej Juliana,

Thanks for the Ns 2.33 patch. One more question, which is related to visualization of the out.tr file. I used the nam utility in ns, but it states that: nam cannot recognize the trace file out.tr. How do you visualize the file?

Thanks and I am glad that we are in touch!
Arta
here an example attached ;)

also, if u r not familiar with gawk u can use the XGraph http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/xgraph/ or TraceGraph http://www.tracegraph.com/ to visualize it directly.
good luck

será que me podes ajudar a resolver o problema? Se nao fosse abusar e me podesses indicar como tirar o delay do teu modulo com uma script awk...

Cumprimentos,
Fernando
Hi Juliana,
I've found in the site the Wimax module for ns2 version 1.02, but only the version for ns2.28.
Do you have another one that works fine in ns 2.33?

regards,

Riccardo
hi Juliana!
is phy layer in your patch ofdma? i am searching a module of ns supports ofdma but i can't find it, i am really interested in mobile wimax and have a project about it, do you help me by showing me how to simulate mobile wimax? thanks in advance!
that's very kind of you to help me.!

with sincerely,
Le Hang
Hi Le Hang,

We are still developing the OFDM Phy layer. The current version of the module uses the ns-2 Phy layer.
In my research, I simulate static networks, so I don't have experience with mobile simulation...

Regards.
Hi,

please try again this link http://www.lrc.ic.unicamp.br/wimax_ns2/
It shouldn't be down now.
Regards.
Hi Juliana,

I am new to ns2 and i have managed to install ns 2.29 and ns 2.32 on ubuntu 8.10.
At this moment i am making a research on wimax, but i didnt hav any luck finding the module for ns 2.29.

The link that is posted http://www.lrc.ic.unicamp.br/wimax_ns2/ is not working, so if it is possible could you please send me the module on my email bozinovskial@yahoo.com

Best regards,
Aleksadar
Hi Aleksandar,

the link should be working now. Pleas, try again.
