hi i am also work in routing and scheduling algorithm in wimax based to mesh network and i couldn't chose the best simulation (NS2, OPNET, OMNET)

if u want to simulate MAC layer use opnet it is perfect
if u want to simulate PHY layer use Matlab

when wimax will be deployed effectively in the whole world we will be able to communicate the whole world faster and from everywhere and with a low price. but the problem is it consumes the battery power very fast. so we should try to solve this problem
